Over the past 10 years, the number of emerging Spanish fashion brands taking steps towards global expansion has grown significantly, positioning Spain as a top leader in the retail sector. And no, we’re not talking about fashion giants, but rather up-and-coming brands with a long road ahead of them.

That’s how The Hype List was born an index developed by Modaes together with Adsmurai, aimed at analyzing the behavior of the country’s most promising fashion brands. Let us explain how it works.

Data + fashion: the new trend this season?

Fashion without data is nothing and the index knows it. To build this list, three key factors in the development of any brand have been considered:

  • Google search volume trends: this data not only gives us exact search volumes but also reveals trends and the level of public interest in a specific brand.
  • The number of positive spontaneous mentions from users on social media: through the tool Talkwalker, a Zinkdo by Adsmurai partner, we can assess a brand’s online reputation, distinguishing positive comments from the rest.
  • Brand visibility in ChatGPT responses: this is based on data from the Brand Tracker GPT tool, developed by Adsmurai.

Now that we’ve outlined the three factors, it’s time for the big question: who’s walking this national runway of talent?

Who’s standing out from the noise?

To select which digital fashion brands to analyze, we defined a set of common characteristics that make them stand out from the crowd:

  • Born in the digital age: with a digital-first DNA, these brands have had a strong online presence from the start, with a distinct aesthetic and identity that authentically represents them. They have high virality and strong engagement across all social channels.
  • Spanish origin stamp: with no more than 10 years of existence, the Spanish label is what sets them apart. Their growth has been driven by social media, e-commerce and influencer marketing. Many follow a DTC (direct-to-consumer) model, and some of the more recent ones are already present in retail, both in Spain and internationally.

Taking all of this into account, the index offers a unique perspective on the real impact of digital fashion brands identified as digital-first, as well as their growth in awareness, reputation and ability to spark conversation across digital channels. It’s the perfect way to spot Spain’s next big fashion names.
